Muggle Quidditch
Valiant teams of muggles will take to the quidditch pitch, playing for the love of the sport and to provide an entertaining hour or two for the spectators. Brave bunch! The game of muggle quidditch is still finding its audience worldwide, but if you’re able to catch a match you’ll see that it’s a fast paced game that needs to be played with skill and cunning!
This is your chance to take part in our 2024 Quidditch Tournament. Four teams of muggles will compete for the Wirksworth Cup! Bring your supporters to cheer you on.
The tournament is for adults. You can either enter as a team of 7 to 10 players or as an individual to join our very own Wirksworth Wyverns, who play in red!

Arrive for 2:30pm, when we will run through the rules and give you a short practice session. Three rounds of matches, including the final will follow. The Wirksworth Quidditch Cup presentation is at approximately 4:30pm.
If you join as a team please choose your own team name and strip colour. Email wwdquidditch@gmail.com with a list of players' names, your team name and strip colour. We'll advise you whether the colour has already been claimed. Come to the tournament in your strip, wear warpaint if you want to, and wear flat-soled sports shoes suitable for astroturf or the indoor hall.
If you join as an individual for Wirksworth Wyverns please email wwdquidditch@gmail.com to say you are joining the Wyverns. Come to the tournament in a red-coloured strip, wear warpaint if you want to, and wear flat-soled sports shoes suitable for astroturf or the indoor hall.
Don't forget to bring your supporters to cheer you on. Spectators watch safely from outside the Quidditch pitch and is free. Match commentary is provided by our excitable announcer!
The sessions are outdoors on the astroturf at Wirksworth Leisure Centre. They will go ahead whatever the weather though we may move to the indoor sports hall next door if there is exceptionally heavy rain.
These are supported by Mount Cook Adventure Centre and led by their activity providers at Wirksworth Leisure Centre.
Ticket income supports the Josh Stockell Community Skatepark and Wirksworth Colts Football Club.
